Welford-on-Avon | River-Edge Entertaining Garden
Client Brief
This large garden will accompany a full renovation and extension of the main residence. The client’s vision centred on creating a multifunctional outdoor space for hosting, relaxing, and enjoying the surrounding landscape near the River Avon. Key elements included an outdoor kitchen and bar, a garden office, lounge zones, and a bespoke water feature—all designed to work harmoniously with the modernised home.
Design Response
The layout was conceived as a series of flowing garden rooms—each with its own character and purpose, but visually tied together by a refined material palette and soft natural planting. A generous outdoor kitchen and dining pavilion forms the social hub of the garden, framed by layered planting and overhead structure for shade and atmosphere.
Further into the space, a recessed lounge and firepit offer a more intimate setting, encircled by textured borders and topiary forms. A contemporary water feature acts as a visual anchor from multiple vantage points, adding movement and serenity to the experience.
Softened hedging, ornamental grasses, and perennial swathes link the zones, while trees were positioned to offer seasonal interest and long-term structure. Every decision supports usability, longevity, and atmosphere—allowing the garden to evolve beautifully alongside the renovated home.
